Zarove (ZAR-o-vay, Bulgarian for "dice"): Instrumental sounds inspired by Eastern empires and weird rock music.

Check us out on WRIR, with Bill Lupoletti!

Many centuries of exchange and occupation have created a musical family out of Southeast Europe, North Africa, the Middle East, Central and South Asia.
They might speak different languages, worship different gods, and make different salads, but the similarities in rhythms, scales and musical sensibilities are obvious and ubiquitous.
Zarove uses that sonic quilt of traditions as a launching pad for song and improvisation, eschewing historical preservation and traditional repertoire for an avant-rock sensibility and original compositions and improvisation.
